Having an up to date operating system will increase security and enhance performance. In this guide we will explain   the steps to manually check that your Mac OS (Operating System) is up to date and how to update to the latest Mac OS version.

Mojave or later

If you have upgraded to  Mac OS Mojave or later, use the following steps to check your operating system is up to date:

1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu

2. Click Software Update

3. Once, the Software Update Windows opens the Mac OS will inform you if “An update is available for your Mac”

4. Click on the “Update Now” button

5. Once complete the Software Update windows will say that your Mac is up to date

Older versions of MacOS

If you have upgraded to  Mac OS Mojave or later, use the following steps to check your operating system is up to date:

1. Choose System preferences from the Apple Menu 

2. Click on “App Store 

3. From the App Store window, click on the “Updates” tab

4. If there are updates available, you will be able to click on the “Update” button

5. Once there are no updates showing then your Mac OS is up to date
